The Blue Island Driving School Story
Mr Mxolisi Mpofu, a qualified auto mechanic, established Blue Island Driving School in 2007. He started by using his own personal vehicle to conduct lessons and establish the Driving School. Over the years, the company grew in strides, with two offices in Bulawayo and another in Plumtree comprising of 22 Instructors as well as a full complement of support staff both in Administration and workshop to attend to breakdowns and servicing of all vehicles.
Blue Island Driving School has experienced personnel who have been providing driver training services that comply with the highest International Standards and best practices since 2007. We quickly became successful through dedication to safe driving techniques and by accommodating students needs. With more than 100 000 successful student graduates, Blue Island is one of the most reputable choices for retest and new learners. You can be assured that every moment you share with us will contribute to a rewarding future of driving.
Today, Mr. Mxolisi owns and operates Blue Island Driving School with his family, continuing the tradition of a family-owned and operated business. They are committed to teaching the pillars of safe driving to their students – Respect for the Road, Respect for Other Drivers, and Awareness of Outside Distractions.

Our Instructors at Blue Island Driving School are committed to teaching our students how to be responsible and safest drivers possible. All our Instructors go through extensive background checks, and complete state requirements – ensuring that you, or your loved one, will be receiving the most up-to-date techniques, information and safe driving standards. Our students are taught the dangers of the road, the dangers in the vehicle, how to avoid distractions, the latest driving laws, and the key components of responsible and safe driving.
